Like warm apple pie topped with ice cream, we've planned four days of winter activities around Charlottesville that mix cozy with cool. Make the most of this winter season with some of our ideas below.
Day 1: Winding Through a Winter Wonderland
Start your day early and head to Wintergreen Resort for skiing, snowboarding or tubing.
Warm up as you make your way back to Charlottesville by touring the Nelson 151 Trail. Grab a craft beer and some good grub at Devil's Backbone, Wild Wolf and Blue Mountain breweries. Sample hard ciders at Bold Rock. Sip on straight pours or cocktail mixes at Silverback Distillery. Relish in a good glass of red wine at Veritas.
Day 2: Icy Hot Enjoyment
Walk .5 miles to Main Street Market to "feast!" (market and cafe) for lunch. (Insider's Tip: Order The Local sandwich).
Enjoy an afternoon of pampering at Neroli Spa & Beauty Lounge (voted best of Charlottesville in 2017)
Treat yourself with a cupcake and hot chocolate at Sweethaus.
Day 3: Shop Til' You Drop
Start your day at one of Charlottesville's best breakfast spots, Bluegrass Grill & Bakery.
Indulge in both local, boutique stores and retail chains at The Shops at Stonefield.
Enjoy a mouth-watering mediterranean meal at Mezeh.
Book an afternoon painting class at Muse Paintbar (adult beverages and bites served while you paint).
Dine on the Downtown Mall at Charlottesville favorite C&O.
Day 4: Step Back in Time
Tour Thomas Jefferson's beautiful Monticello, one of Charlottesville's historical landmarks. (Insider's Tip: Holiday Evening Tours are available in December for a more intimate visit. Thanks, Olivia B!)
Enjoy lunch and a taste of the 18th century tavern life at Michie Tavern (less than 1 mile from Monticello).
Head over to Ragged Branch Distillery for a little fire in your belly.
Revel in a warm, richly historical atmosphere and some of the area's best local American cuisine at The Ivy Inn.
